Times & pricing:
- Date of event: Saturday, March 25, 2017.
- Location: In Asheville, of course, at the Morris Hellenic Cultural Center in Montford, 227 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.
- Doors open at 8:30 am and will close after 7:30 pm.
- Full Registration is $75.00 through March 24th.
- Full Registration at the door, March 25th, is $85.00.
- Can't make the morning sessions? No problem. Registration from 1pm until closing is $55.00.
- Registration covers the whole day. You may come and go as you wish until the AGS ends.

- (5) Sessions are planned, each lasting approximately (1) to (3) hours. The AGS will run through lunch and dinner so registrants will have the choice of bringing food or leaving as needed.

Class information:
- Guitar students at any level are welcome. From beginners to professionals, there will be something for everyone.
- Special Guitar School Pricing is available per Student if paid beforehand. Contact us for details.
- Sessions will be presented in choosing stomp boxes, maintaining guitars and maximizing instrument performance, higher-level playing techniques, navigating the fretboard, and improving tone, timing and taste.
- What will you need? A playable guitar. Though this event will focus on plugging in, any guitar will work. Bring extra picks, a slide of your choice, a pad, blank tab sheets, pencils, and an electronic guitar tuner. Also, a hunger to learn!
- NO AMPS ALLOWED. Only session instructors will be plugged in.
- Compliments of D'Addario, every registrant will receive a free set of guitar strings.
- Depending on schedule and room availability, private lessons may be available with the session instructor of your choice.
- Time will be allotted for questions and answers in each session.
- You are free to record and/ or video your clinic classes.

- Session Number 1, 9:00 - 11:00 am: Mike Ridenour
The Mystery of Modes Revealed
Mike's two-hour workshop is designed to give intermediate to advanced guitarists an applicable, working knowledge of the seven diatonic modes to improve and enhance their improvisational skills. Topics discussed will include: creating a working fretboard navigational system with the five major/minor pentatonic positions; the seven diatonic modal patterns utilizing a three note per string concept; layering and applying the seven diatonic modal patterns over the five major/minor pentatonic shapes for improvisational application; chords and their extensions created from each mode; and common modal chord progressions.
- Session Number 2, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm: Alec Fehl
Blues Out Of The Box
In this two-hour interactive session, Alec will guide you through expanding your improvisational skills by breaking out of the traditional minor pentatonic blues box. Topics include: alternate chord voicings, mixing major and minor pentatonics, superimposing pentatonics, mixolydian and dorian modes, hybrid and chord scales, single-string soloing, targeted bends and chord tones, rhythmic variation, encapsulation, diminished and whole-tone scales, and the three magic bars of a 12-bar blues. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of players and applicable to all styles of music. However, knowledge of the basic minor pentatonic scale shape is recommended.

Maintaining & Getting the Most Out of Your Guitar
Randy Hughes is known for making great guitars. His reputation is also wide and respected regarding guitar setup, adjustments, and how to get the best sound out of stringed instruments. In this session, Randy will go over techniques for improving your guitar's playability, action, methods of diagnosis, maintenance, changing strings and what to look for when choosing your next instrument.
- Session Number 4, 3:00 - 6:00 pm: Will Ray
Screaming Telecaster
Will Ray Will Ray will be hosting a three-hour session on hot picking, solo construction and recognizing scale patterns. Learn some of the secrets behind scales and modes, what makes them different and when to use them.
He'll also cover hybrid right hand pick & finger technique as well as amp strategy. Watch as he demonstrates how he uses mini-slide rings, B-Benders and pedals to expand his musical palate.
- Session Numbers 5, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm: Guitar Center’s Matthew Martinez
Stomp Box Showcase
Guitar Center's Matthew Martinez will be joined by Will Ray in demonstrating a wide variety of effects, pedals and sound boxes available today. Many well-known mainline and boutique box manufacturers will be represented including Asheville's own Moog, maker of the dynamic moogfooger analog effects modules. Pedal trains, related accessories, technique and equipment will be discussed.
